Attorneys & Staff Marc Cooper Coral Gables, Florida
MARC COOPER joined Colson Hicks Eidson to establish the firm's appellate practice group. After graduating from Yale University, he attended the University of Miami School of Law as a Reid Scholar. He served as an editor of the Law Review and graduated magna cum laude. Following graduation, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable David W. Dyer, United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit. On completion of his clerkship in 1976, Mr. Cooper formed the firm of Greene & Cooper, which later became Cooper & Wolfe. His firm became one of Florida's most outstanding appellate law firms. For almost 25 years, Mr. Cooper has handled appeals of all types in all the appellate courts of Florida, as well as in the Fifth Circuit, Eleventh Circuit and other federal circuits. Hundreds of appellate decisions, both reported and unreported, bear his name. Fifth Circuit, Eleventh Circuit and other federal circuits. Throughout his practice, Mr. Cooper has emphasized the important role of providing counseling to trial lawyers in both a pretrial and trial setting. Mr. Cooper has appeared in hundreds of trial court settings, arguing complex motions and legal issues arising during the course of trial. In this capacity Mr. Cooper has spent more time in the courtroom than most trial lawyers. Illustrative of this work is his service as counsel to the federal court receivers in the U.S. Oil & Gas litigation and the Premium Sales litigation, where he was instrumental in guiding those cases to the recovery of more than $50 million and $175 million, respectively, for the benefit of defrauded investors. He has worked as co-counsel in dozens of other cases resulting in multi-million dollar recoveries.
