Colson Hicks Eidson Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit On Behalf of Victim Killed in Miami International Airport Bus Crash

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Dec. 7, 2012) – Coral Gables-based law firm Colson Hicks Eidson filed a wrongful death complaint in the 11th Judicial Circuit Court in Miami-Dade County today on behalf of the family of Francisco Urena against Ramon Ferreiro, Miami Bus Service Corp., and Miami Bus Service II Corp. Urena, 56, was one of two passengers killed on Dec. 1, 2012 when a charter bus he was riding in en route to a church function slammed into a concrete overpass at Miami International Airport.  The 32 passengers on board were part of a congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses who were traveling from Miami to a gathering in West Palm Beach. The suit alleges Ferreiro negligently drove the 11-foot high bus, which was owned and operated by Miami Bus Service Corp. and Miami Bus Service II Corp., into an 8-foot-6-inch overpass at the airport. Colson Hicks Eidson Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit On Behalf of Victim Killed in Doral Garage Collapse

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Dec. 3, 2012) – Coral Gables-based law firm Colson Hicks Eidson filed a wrongful death complaint in the 11th Judicial Circuit Court in Miami-Dade County today on behalf of Migdalia Lopez, the widow of Samuel Perez, against Defendants Ajax Building Corporation, Inc.; M.A.R. Contracting, Inc.; MEP Structural Engineering and Inspections, Inc.; Bliss & Nyitray, Inc. and Haryard Jolly, Inc. Perez, 53, was one of four construction workers killed after a parking garage that was under construction collapsed on the Doral campus of Miami Dade College on October 10, 2012. He was driving a cement truck at the project site during the time of the collapse. Following the collapse, he was trapped inside the cab of the truck for 17 hours before rescue workers amputated his legs in order to get him out. Colson Hicks Eidson Obtains $1.25 Million Med Mal Verdict Against Miami VA Hospital

Colson Hicks Eidson partner Deborah J. Gander has obtained a medical malpractice verdict of $1.25 million on behalf of a man who contracted Hepatitis C from a contaminated endoscope. In 2007, 69-year-old Robert Metzler, an Air Force Veteran, underwent a colonoscopy and lesion removal procedure at the Miami VA Healthcare Center. Following the procedure, Metzler received a notice from the Department of Veterans Affairs stating that certain medical equipment used during endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures had been contaminated and advised him to get tested for certain blood borne illnesses. Metzler was tested and found to have contracted Hepatitis C. The Department of Veterans Affairs conducted an investigation and found that Metzler was one of thousands of veterans who received colonoscopies with improperly-cleaned equipment between 2004 and 2009 at VA hospitals in Miami, Tennessee and Georgia. “We hope that this verdict will go a long way in promoting quality health care…
