Miami Fender Bender Escalated Into Road Rage Baseball Bat Attack

What initially appeared to be an everyday fender bender accident in Miami-Dade County last Thursday quickly turned more serious as one of the drivers involved assaulted the other driver with a baseball bat, WPLG-Miami reported. Police say that the driver who appeared to be at fault in the rear-end collision in the area of U.S. Highway 1 and 112th Street got out of his car after the accident and accused the driver of the impacted truck of stopping short to cause the wreck.

The bat-wielding driver then told the victim to drive off before shattering the rear window of the truck. The assault continued with the driver at fault choking and punching the driver of the truck before the victim was struck with a baseball bat by the assailant’s passenger. The arrival of police prevented the victim from being beaten unconscious, and the two suspects were arrested on multiple charges related to the assault, damage to the victim’s truck and resisting arrest.

As this unfortunate example demonstrates, aggressive driving causes totally avoidable accidents all the time. Even worse, the aggressive attitude shown by some drivers can boil over into road rage incidents that create additional danger. Miami has been repeatedly cited by national auto club AutoVantage as one of the worst cities for road rage in the country, so drivers should take special caution to avoid aggressive motorists and volatile situations.
