Victim’s Family Will Sue Driver Who Caused Bike Accident

We have an update on the Del Rey Beach bicycle accident that we reported on in our blog. The driver suspected of striking a woman who later succumbed to her injuries, is being sued by the family of the victim. The 57-year-old man from Pinellas County is suspected of driving while under the influence of alcohol, prescription drugs and recreational drugs, and the family wants him held accountable for his actions. In addition to the Pinellas County driver being sued, the victim’s family will sue the woman who owns the 2014 Mazda that he was driving. The case alleges that the Palm Beach County resident had known that the driver was an abuser of prescription medications and that he had drugs in his possession. Bike Riders Struck Near Delray Beach

Two bicyclists, husband and wife, were struck on April 23rd while riding near the A1A in Highland beach. Witnesses claim that the couple was riding southbound in the designated bike lane when a red car weaved off the roadway and crashed into them. The driver sustained minor injuries, and the police are waiting for blood tests to see if alcohol was involved. Both bike riders sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Delray Medical Center. However, the wife succumbed to her injuries after several days in the hospital. She was 69-years-old and served as the vice president of commercial real estate at Emigrant Bank. Her husband sustained serious head injuries and is still recovering.
