The Dangers Of Working With Electricity

A man was sent to the Broward Health Medical Center in May after surviving an electrocution. The man was a worker for Coral Gables’ MasTec, a construction company contracted by the Florida Power & Light Company, and sustained serious burns after being exposed to live wires. A spokesman for the nearby Coral Ridge Country Club said that an office building lost power for a moment but, “the work was not being done on behalf of the country club.” A representative of MasTec reported that the accident victim was able to walk and talk after the ordeal. This good news is not often the case when dealing with electrocutions. Electrical workers suffer the highest amount of electricity-related fatalities every year, and though this statistic may not be surprising, the number of those fatalities is.
