A 27-year-old man on holiday from the United Kingdom was walking along 15th Street in Miami Beach when the unexpected happened. A silver BMW came speeding down the street and collided with him. After the crash, the driver of the vehicle jumped out of the car and fled on foot, and though authorities have leads, many are wondering if Miami police will find the hit and run driver. A police officer on patrol saw the speeding car and attempted a U-turn to catch the vehicle, but the car—which some say was travelling at 100mph—had already collided with the British tourist. Coral Gables Hit and Run Driver Caught

Not long ago we brought you the story of a Coral Gables boy who was struck by a car while riding bicycles with his father. The boy’s leg was broken and the driver sped away, but thanks to vigilant neighbors this Coral Gables hit and run driver was caught. How Did Neighbors Help Catch The Driver? 9-Year-Old Recovering from Coral Gables Bicycle Accident

Police are searching for a white Honda Civic with a dark colored hood. The driver of this car is wanted for a hit and run involving a 9-year-old who had stopped to read a sign. Now the boy is recovering from this Coral Gables bicycle accident while police try to find the fleeing driver who caused it. It was around 6:40 pm near the 1100 block of South Greenway Drive when a 9-year-old Coral Gables boy stopped to read a sign. He got off his bike and approached the sign when a white car hit him and then ran over the boys legs trying to get away. The boy’s father, who was riding with him, witnessed the entire incident. Staying Safe After A Crash

If you are in a car accident, it is important to remain calm and contact authorities immediately. However, staying safe after a crash can be just as important as contacting help or helping others. On July 30th, a 31-year-old man and his passenger were driving down Pine Island Road when the man lost control of his pickup truck. The vehicle slammed into a light post, ejected the passenger, and came to rest in the middle of the road. Not knowing the fate of his passenger, or the extent of his own injuries, the man crawled out of the window to his truck. Moments later, a car hit the 31-year-old and left the scene. The passenger, a 37-year-old woman, died on the scene, and the pickup’s driver died on the way to the hospital. Fighting Hit and Run Crashes

A hit and run epidemic has plagued our state for the past few years, and it has touched many lives here in Coral Gables. A few weeks ago, we told you the story of bicyclist who was killed in a hit and run incident and how police captured the driver, but the fight against hit and run crashes still rages on. How Bad Is The Hit and Run Epidemic? The Florida Highway Patrol estimated that there were around 80,000 hit and run incidents in Florida last year, and over 27,000 of these accidents happened in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. Though many of those crashes involved fender benders and no injuries, there are still too many cases of injuries and fatalities for the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit to handle. “We just don’t have the time, we have too many to investigate,” says Sgt.
