Defective Medical Products Can Cause Catastrophic Injury

Defective medical products can leave patients with catastrophic injuries, causing the need for additional surgeries and treatment. In some cases, patients do not survive these additional surgeries and the defective medical products will then have caused preventable death. Manufacturers have a duty to the public to ensure the safety of the medical products they market and sell. In this video, Miami pharmaceutical litigation attorney Julie Kane explains one such product, SurgiWrap, and how its defective design led to injuries for one of her clients.

If you have been injured by SurgiWrap or another defective medical product such as the DePuy hip implant, you can speak with a product defect attorney at 305-476-7400 or by filling out an online case review form.

SurgiWrap is a medical product that is used by surgeons inside of the abdomen to keep things from sticking to each other after people have surgery. So essentially it’s like a piece of Saran wrap that keeps your organs from healing into each other and scarring into each other. Colson Hicks Eidson is handling a case involving SurgiWrap where, instead of separating the organs and acting the way it’s supposed to, it’s turned into a crystallized material and it’s coming out of our client’s body in shards, cutting the insides of her and cutting her body as it leaves her body. It is a horrific defect in this product and this type of product liability case, like the SurgiWrap case, like the DePuy hip cases, these types of cases are being handled by different lawyers in the law firm of Colson Hicks Eidson.
