Our law firm believes in responsible litigation. This means that when we file a personal injury claim, it is on behalf of people who have been seriously harmed by another person or business. No one receives a windfall, but simply compensation in an attempt to make an injured person whole again. In this video, attorney Patrick Montoya explains the practices of his law firm and how lawsuits can increase safety measures in the future.
I think litigation lawyers get a bad name. I think people often hear the term personal injury attorney, for example. And they think that if you file a lawsuit then somebody automatically sends you a check. I found the exact opposite to be the case and to be reality. Reality is, big companies who do bad things, they are very well protected. They’re protected by an army of lawyers that’s going to be there. And even when they’ve done wrong, and it’s clear wrong doing. They don’t want to make it right. So, when I say responsible litigation, it means two things. One is not filing frivolous lawsuits. Filing the lawsuits that matter. For people that are severely injured, really injured, for people that suffer real economic harm. And the second part of responsible litigation is the responsibility I have to the community to make it safer. And that’s really where I think it has its weight. Whether it’s making sure that people aren’t driving distracted by texting and having campaigns to stop that within out law practice. Or making sure that pharmaceuticals are safe. Or making sure the swimming pools are safe for children. That’s responsible litigation. Because that makes sure that the people that are putting those products out there are making them safe, and a safer world for all of us.
